003 - Paris , The Louve

Bonjour,

Tuesday April 10, 2007

My wife and I arrived safely at Paris's Charles De Gaul (CDG) airport at 1.30 PM on April 10th. As soon as we landed and while waiting for our luggage, our daughter called from Chateaoroux to find out if we have arrived. She was having a break in between classes. From CDG airport we took the train to centre of Paris to stay with our first hosts. Laurent and his wife Francois were very kind and hospitable hosts. They live in a combined two-unit apartment near Felix Faure Metro station with their son Olivier who was away holidaying with his relatives then.

While our hosts went to work Azmah and I went out and visited the Louvre Museum. The Louvre which is 4-storeys high was too much for us to take in a day, so we only chose the 4th floor where the smiling Mona Lisa was located, and the ground floor where some of the Egyptian artifacts were kept. We should have walked and enjoyed the beauty of Paris on foot, but feeling tired, we cheated a little and took the “hop-on-hop-off” bus tour of the city, which was really nice if you want to see Paris in a hurry. It covered four different routes with the same ticket that costs 26 euros.
