Some Information About Malaysia

Cristina from Uruguay, in her email recently requested some information about Malaysia. It may take some time before I can provide some detailed or semi-detailed information to her and others who may visit this website. Therefore, I thought that for now, before I can provide the information, the best way is to give Cristina some addresses of websites about Malaysia.

For information about Malaysia, you may visit Tourism Malaysia website and that of the Govrnment of Malaysia here

While I understand that some of you may be dissapointed with what I did, this is just a temporary and fast way to get the basic information about Malaysia. I hope that I will be able to post more inforamtion on this site about Malaysia from time to time. My friends in Malaysia are invited to post their messages to this site as well.

With best wishes to you all.

Abdullah.

Pamukkale, a natural wonder in Turkey

Recently, friends of mine from Ipoh, Perak Malaysia (Shareezah and Majid) visited Turkey. Among the places they visited was Pamukkale - you see pictures of Pamukkale on this page.

They sent me photos of Pamukkale's rather beautiful terraced calcium pools, sometimes called calcium terraces or travertines, which are seen next to ancient Hierapolis.

I have not been there myself, but the following is a description of Pamukkale in one of the websites:- Pamukkale means cotton castle, and is from "pamuk" for cotton and "kale" for castle, referring to the large white cliff of Pamukkale.

For centuries, the thermal waters have been considered therapeutic, and people flock there to immerse themselves, only to find this is likely mainly in the hotel emulations, which receive the calcium hot spring waters, so SOME have said there is little left at Pamukkale proper. I was told that people are now not allowed to swim there since it is now a World Heritage site.

Here are the persons and messages that I received about this Blog of ours.

From Cristina, Uruguay:

I never wrote in one of them...
I belong Servas since two years but didn?t use it yet.
I don?t know nothing about Malasya! could you tell me something?
greetings,
Cristina"

(I shall try to post some information about Malaysia in the near future. I welcome SERVAS members from Malaysia to please send information or websites that can tell our friends from other countries about our beautiful country , Malayasia - Abdullah.)

Anther person that sends his greetings to the SERVAS Malaysia blog is

From Iceland Christopher John Morden wrote:

"Greetings from Servas Iceland - I just walked along the coast for two
hours in a hail storm, so it´s nice to have an excuse to think about
sunny, warm Malaysia! The idea for this site is really good and I hope it
will prove helpful to the growth and development of Servas.
I moved to Iceland from Canada eight years ago and am a citizen here now.
I became the national secretary a few years ago. Servas is very
under-devloped here, although I am very happy to have just listed a new
host in our remote north-west region. We get quite a few visitors, as many
trans-Atlantic passengers on Icelandair flights make a stop-over here. And
with a discount airline, Iceland Express, now flying between Iceland and
Britain and Europe there are more and more tourists all the time.
With best wishes -
Kristófer Jónatansson"

Till another time, here is wishing you all the best,

Abdullah, Malaysia.

Welcome to SERVAS Malaysia Blog

Hello every one,

I would like to welcome you SERVAS Malaysia web-log (blog). This is an attempt to have a space for members of SERVAS from Malaysia and the rest of the world to interact and share a common passion - building peace through travel (by being a guest or host). For visitors to this website who are not familiar with our organisation you may visit the SERVAS international website http://www.servas.org/

A few years ago, a mailing list in the form of Yahoo Group was set up for SERVAS SEA (South East Asia). In the beginning there was quite an activity, with members posting their travel stories and pictures, and other topics of interest. However, later on, due to inactivity, our mailing list was unfortunately closed down by Yahoo!

I hope that new this new ground would provide an opportunity and enable SERVAS members to interact and share their passion again.

For starters, I would like to invite members of SERVAS Malaysia to please send in an introduction about themselves and their family, their interests, occupation, hobby and anything that you would like to share with the rest of us.

I would like to very much encourage you to send to this posting as many pictures as possible. Remember, a picture is worth more than a thousand words.

With that, I hope to see you on this playground of SERVAS Malaysia.

Visitors please do come back from time to time, and you are encouraged to contribute your postings to this blog as well. Please email your postings and pictures to abdulct@gmail.com, and I will be sure to publish your postings here.

Sincerely,

Abdullah Che Tengah, from Kota Bharu, Kelantan, Malaysia.
